30-Day #Horror Movie Challenge: Your favorite anthology...Trick 'r Treat

Tagline: Poison, Drowning, Claw, Or Knife. So Many Ways To Take A Life.

Synopsis: Interwoven stories demonstrate that some traditions are best not forgotten as the residents (Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker) of a small town face real ghosts and goblins on Halloween. Tales of terror reveal the consequences of extinguishing a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight and a grumpy hermit's encounter with a sinister trick-or-treater.

When watching this amazing film, it's not obvious at first that it's an anthology. Then, as the story moves along, the realization hits...it's all interconnected in large, and small, ways. I knew nothing about this film until I stumbled upon it on one of the premium movie channels (HBO, Showtime, can't remember). It wasn't a featured release so I remember thinking "B-Movie!" Boy, was I wrong. Some stellar acting...I mean, Brian Cox...come on, and Anna Paquin at the height of her True Blood fame. The interconnected stories are all incredibly good, and it really is a scary, and bloody, good time. (Google)

What is your favorite horror movie anthology?

  1. I've been meaning to see this one! I'll put it on my list for this month. I can't think of another horror anthology series.

    1. Another one I thought of was "Trilogy of Terror" from the 70s. That movies scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. You should check it out, if you haven't already seen it. Creepshow is another one I considered.

    2. I just remembered that Ghost Story is a mini Anthology series. They're separate stories but come together in the end. That one was really good.

    3. I saw Ghost Story (is it on Netflix?). I wondered about it. Now I need to watch it.

  2. This was my pick too. I had heard buzz about it when it made the festival rounds and went out of my way to find it once it hit home video (oh, the days before streaming services...).
