Frightful Fall Read-a-Thon: Mini-Challenge #3

All you have to do is go online to an image site (Google images, photobucket, etc.) and find an image that represents the setting of the book you're reading.  If you're not reading a scary book at the moment, pick one you've already read during the read-a-thon.  Try to make it as creepy as you can.  Post the link in the comments, along with the title and author of the book, and as they come in, I will put the images up in the post so everyone can see them.  If you want to also do a blog post with the image, that is totally up to you.  All I ask is that you leave the link in the comments so I will know that you participated.  This challenge will stay open until the end of the read-a-thon on Sunday until 11:59pm CST  I will choose 3 winners randomly and each of the winners will pick a prize from the prize page.  Fun, fun, fun!!!

Here's mine:

Frightful Fall Read-a-Thon: Mini-Challenge #2

It's time for mini-challenge #2! This one is going to be a little more difficult, but I think what people come up with will be really interesting.  What I want you to do is take your current read and take one sentence from three of the following pages:  page 1, page 77, page 179, page 255, page 360, or the next to the last page (I picked a diverse number for books of varying lengths).  Now, take the three sentences and make them into a short paragraph, but make the paragraph scary or suspenseful (if you have to add scary words or sentences to accomplish this, feel free).  Italicize the original text from the book or, if you leave it in the comments, put quotes around the original text.  You can leave yours in the comment section below and/or post it on your blog.  This mini-challenge will be open until Friday (10/7) at 12:30pm CST.  I will randomly select three winners from all the entries and each winner will pick a prize from the prize page.

Okay, I decided just today that I'm going to start The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan since I've been wanting to read it for a long time.  So, here is my paragraph (mine will not be entered in the giveaway):

I am surprised that I don't growl like a wounded animal cornered by dogs.  I've been in this cage for weeks. I fiddle with the dirty binding rope still circling my wrist and wonder when he will come back and if he will kill me...or worse.  My body hurts so bad I want to throw up.

Some read-a-thon business:
If you have not signed in at the starting line, please do so HERE.  This is the only way that you are eligible for the daily participant giveaways and my mini-challenge giveaways.

Please visit the sign-in and information page HERE to find the links to mini-challenges/giveaways from other read-a-thon participants.  They have some fun challenges and some awesome prizes up for grabs!

Check out the PRIZE PAGE.

There's still time to complete my first mini-challenge.  It's open until 10:00pm CST tonight! Go HERE to do so.

Frightful Fall Read-a-Thon: Mini-Challenge #1

First of all, I want to apologize for the late posting of this mini-challenge.  Hosting a read-a-thon is a lot of work.  No wonder Dewey's 24 hour needs so much help! I know why now.  =O)  Anyway, since it is so late, I'm going to make this relatively simple.  Also, since I'm doing three mini-challenges this week (and I had more prize donations, so I might be throwing in a little scary trivia contest.  We'll see!), each one will run for two days.  This one will kind of overlap with the next one because I posted so late.  So this mini-challenge will be open until Wednesday at 10pm CST.

All you have to do is go online to an image site (Google images, photobucket, etc.) and find the scariest image you can.  Post the link in the comments and as they come in, I will put the images up in the post so everyone can see them (a nod to vvb32 reads...she does this on her blog all the time).  If you want to also do a blog post with the image, that is totally up to you.  All I ask is that you leave the link in the comments.  At 10pm tomorrow night, I will choose 3 winners randomly and each of the winners will pick a prize from the prize page.  Fun, fun, fun!!!

Here's mine:
