Announcing the Spring into Horror Read-a-Thon....Sign-Up!

It's coming...to shake up your peaceful spring. ;O)  Yup, it's the Spring into Horror Read-a-Thon, April 23 at 12:00am CST to April 29 at 11:59pm CST (adjust times according to your time zone).  Now don't let the word 'horror' scare you away from this read-a-thon.  You do have to read at least one scary book during the duration of the read-a-thon.  That book can be horror, paranormal, thriller, mystery, etc.  The rest of the read-a-thon, you can read whatever you want.  More horror/scary stuff or just your regular reading repertoire.  As always, this is a week long read-a-thon, but you can join in and read whenever it's convenient for you.  It's all about being laid back and getting some reading done...with a little bit of scary thrown in.

I really want to do this read-a-thon a bit differently this time.  Meaning, more focus on the reading and less focus on mini-challenges.  What I'm thinking is possibly some short reading sprints or something along those lines.  If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to leave me a comment.  I'll also still be looking for prize donations (or anyone who would like to host a giveaway or something), but I'm not going to be seeking them as intensively as previously.  I know many people that joined my previous read-a-thons have expressed a desire to focus more on the reading and I'm thinking I'm of a like mind.  Whatever prize donations I do receive will be awarded in participant giveaways mostly.  So if you know someone who would like to donate a prize, or authors, if you would like to promote your book through the read-a-thon, please contact me at truebookaddictATgmailDOTcom.

You do not have to have a blog. You can sign up using your goodreads, Twitter, or Facebook accounts. We will be tweeting during the read-a-thon at #SpringHorrorRAT

If you are planning on joining me (I hope so), please sign up in the linky below.  You don't have to do a starting post now (unless you want to), but if you would like to help me spread the word, that would be great.  As is usual in my read-a-thons, there will be a starting line post for participants to sign in when they start reading for the read-a-thon, whether they start at the beginning, the middle, or towards the end.

You can grab this smaller button (with code) or, if you'd like a larger button, use the one at the top of this post.

  5. Can't wait for it. I enjoyed your last read-a-thon, didn't do any of the challenges so I enjoyed the reading along part of it more. I like the idea of reading sprints. I'm still new to all this so will be learning :)

  7. Ooooooh, Michelle...I love horror!

I love reading challenges but have always shied away from read-a-thons because I have young kids and don't have much sit-down time to just read and read! I'm afraid that I won't be able to accomplish more than just 1 book, probably! Is there a minimum requirement?

  8. Darlene, would love to have you join us. Believe me, I know about the kids! Luckily, I'm a stay at home mom and both kids are in school so I can get some good reading in then. When they're here, it's a different story.

The minimum requirement is one book and it must be a scary one. See the guidelines above. So you're in with your one book. =O) If you get a chance to read more, go for it, but it's up to you how you challenge yourself.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

  21. This is my first time doing this read-a-thon. I'm a huge mystery fan so happy to see that counts! Hmmm, I'm halfway through a book...do I count that?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tracy--so glad you didn't miss it! Anne Rice is always good. =O)

Jenn--it certainly does count. I do that all the time for read-a-thons.

  23. Well, I don't read *horror*, but since you say that paranormal suspense is good enough (and my pal Shaunesay is pushing me to sign up), I think I can find ONE book that qualifies. I'm on a road trip all week, and will spend plenty of time reading in the car.
